Adjacent to Croatan is the elementary school Bogue Sound Elementary. The schools located in Newport are completed with Broad Creek Middle School which is a wonderful academic middle school.

One stretch of Newport that has grown tremendously over the last several years is off of Highway 24. The stretch of highway 24 running through Newport begins in Morehead City at highway 70 and follows the sound-side to Cape Carteret.
